Tornea River is a very large river with several tributaries being rivers themselves. It is often called the boundary river, as it separates Finland and Sweden. The river is untouched by the advances of hydro electrical power plants. As virgin as it was several hundred years ago the river offers fantastic fishing for salmon.

It is possible to fish for salmon in almost the entire river system with all its tributaries. Fishing the lower reaches is mainly done from boat, given the huge size of the river. The fly fisherman is recommended to try out the lower reaches of the tributary Lainio River, but also tributaries Muonio River and Konkamaa River. These waters are easily reached by car, as there are close by roads. Fishing is normally at its best from mid June and throughout July.
