Gierts creek is a medium sized creek with its source in the mountains between the Dellik Creek and River Vindeln in the municipality of Sorsele. The creek origin is somewhere on the side of Bjorkfjallet Mountain north of Kraddsele Village. The upper part is fly only, from Lake Giertsjaure and 13 kilometres upstream to a waterfall that marks the boundary against a nature reserve. The waterfall also marks the upper limit for grayling.

The upper stretch of Gierts Creek is relatively wide and shallow with a bottom consisting mainly of gravel. The calm parts are also relatively shallow and the crystal clear water makes it possible to spot fish from the shore.

Even higher up the creek’s character changes as it throws itself between vertical cliffs in a canyon like valley. Deep pools with greenish water where fish are easily observed can be found everywhere.

Within the fly only restriction, there’s also Harrtrask Creek entering Gierts Creek from the west. The, at first inspection, small creek opens up in wider and deeper pools a short way upstream. Here You can find numerous trout as well as large grayling.
