Lainio River, a river that consists of the water from three of the finest mountain creeks that I know. Lainio River starts where River Rostoetno meets with River Tavvaetno, at this point the River Tavvaetno has just met with its tributary Harrejokk Creek.

From this meeting of rivers down to the village of Upper Soppero, close to 60 kilometres downstream, the river has the character of a forest river, with mountain birches at the beginning and pine and spruce further down. Along the entire stretch you can find trout and grayling. Occasionaly even a salmon finds its way far up this river. Alternating rapids and calmer parts in forest surroundings makes this river a nice alternative to the more barren mountain rivers.

About 30 kilometres upstream of Upper Soppero the river has two tributaries, Muljokkjokk Creek and Aggojokk Creek, which makes the area extra interesting.

Fishing is mainly done with caddis imitations, pupaes as well as fully evolved insects.
