Spruce Creek is a mountain creek that runs from Spruce Lake in the east to Lake Virisen in the west. The creek stretches about 4 kilometres with another lake, Lake Bleriken, close to the middle. The lower part of Spruce Creek is under quota restrictions, this means that for 100 sek/day (year 2002) You and Your companions can fish this stretch for a period of three days. Permit for this part of the creek must be applied for in writing before the first of May.  The stretch is fly only.

Trout is the most common species, but You can find arctic char at the lake inlets and outlets. This is a creek with long, calm and deep stretches where a float tube will do very well, though it’s perfectly ok to fish from the shore. In these calmer parts You will have the best chance to get in touch with trout of larger size. In the shallower rapids the fish is quite shy, and You will have to approach with stealth.

Fishing is permitted from the first of July to August 31, and at first mayflies will do best but at the end of the month caddis flies are more dominant.

If the fishing is slow I’d recommend trying a weighted nymph in one of the calmer parts, there are some really large trout to be caught if You’re lucky.
