Vuojatetno River receive its water from the large mountain lakes Virihaure and Vastenjaure to later end in Lake Akkajaure 35 kilometres downstream. On its way it passes another two large lakes, first Lake Kutjaure then Lake Ritjemjaure but also receives water from a short tributary that empties Lake Sallohaure. Vuojatetno is not an easy river to fish, and may at times seem completely sterile, then suddenly full of feeding fish, and very large fish at that.

During the snow melting period this river has a tendency to make the big rivers of Sweden look small, but with a lower water flow and in the shadow of mount Akka it’s easy to fall in love with this river. The feeling of being in the wilderness, the REAL wilderness, the feeling of being small, the silence and the vastness of this place does wonders for a stressed out city soul.

Fishing is mainly done with caddis imitations, pupaes as well as fully evolved flies, but also gnats and spider imitations. The fish in these waters are very shy, and You need to proceed with stealth alongside the river.
