Canberra and Albury
Canberra is the maintown of australia and it has 307.000 citizens. It's a very "stiff" town with a big artificial lake in the middle of it. At the end of the town you'll find the embassyarea with the parliamentshouse in the front. At the other end, like a big "fire break" straight through the city, is War memorial. A rather boring town, according to my opinion. The only thing I'll always remember is the aboriginal embassy (read below). Otherwise I found the town away too perfect. The picture is taken from the parliament house front. You can see War memorial at the foot of the mountain.

War memorial. Names of all who been killed in the war against ... is engraved into the stonewalls. Thousands and thousands of names....
Here is the most interesting I found in this town, the aboriginal embassy. They have owned this land since 50 000 BC. When the white man camed in early 1900 century we all know what happened. The aboriginals have parked a buildingbarack right outside the parliamentshouse. Maybe they want to say something....hmmm.

Albury and

Ettamogah Pub

Albury itself is a great stop overnight. Murray river goes right through it and provides great canoing. A hot tip: Rent a canoe. A couple of kilometers outside Albury you'll find this peculiar building. This is also a "must" when visiting.

It doesn't matter how much you try, you just won't find a single peace of wood which is straight. Steps, doors, chairs, walls you name it. The house is obviously an exact copy of a famous cartoon in Australia. Anyway, the beer tasted just fine.....
Albury is a small and cosy town. There is a few backpacker places. Keep your eyes out for hostels. I cant remember the name of the place where we stayed but it was cheap and they had canoes for rent.
