I bought my first mohair artist bear in London, 1996. Have since then increased
my hug by several other bears. Nowadays I also make my own bears, I made the first one in
1992. Then I didn't make anyone until 5 years later, when I had discovered the Teddy Bears
Mailinglist and made several wonderful friends. I had no idea that there was such
wonderful stuffies like the hand made mohair bears. I had found a teddybear magazine
- Teddy Bear & Friends - in our local kiosk in April 1996, I was in heaven! I read and
I drooled over all the gorgeous bears that I saw in there and couldn't find here. I didn't
even know how to get hold of them. Little did I know back then.
Living in Sweden is like living in a bear desert!
My exfiance was the one that told me
about internet, mailinglists and newsgroups. He helped me find a newsgroup that was teddy
related and from there I was told that there was a teddy bear mailinglist. I have made a
lot of friends thanks to that list. People I would never have met otherwise, and I owe it
all to the furry stuffies that we all love so much - the teddy bears. Now I have
learnt to know where to find all thoose wonderful hand made bears!! Don't know if that is
a good or a bad thing?! :-)
I was beary happy after reading all
the mails about people making their own bears and even selling them. I just knew I had to
make one myself again! So a friend of mine and I decided that we would make a swap. She
would send me a kit to make a synthetic fur bear and I sent her a package with knitting
yarns and a pattern. Then Hope was born. I chose her name beacuse I hoped that there would
be more bears born after her. A hope for a better future. I have since her, made
more bears.
I wouldn't call myself a bear artist,
I am just a happy hobbyist, who can't resist making more and more bears. My only regret is
that there are so many ideas and so little time. My bears are both dressed and bare, I
sew, crochet and knit clothes for them.......whatever comes to mind at that time.
