In 1995, the small software developers Team 17 released a product which
was a genre in its own, a game like no others. Worms, with its almost lemmings
like graphics, was both cute and violent while it mixed both strategy and action.
It was Andy Davidson who had contacted Team 17, who started th whole thing. Andy's
self programmed game Total Wormage (which really was a advanced reprogram of the
old QBasic game Gorilla) finally lead to Worms.
For you out there who still haven't played Worms, it's a turn based
game where players have teams of worms which compete against each other.
Using weapons like uzi's, bazookas and exploding sheep, your simple task
is to blow the enemy team(s) to the place downunder where it's quite hot
and so on. If you haven't played it, download the demo
now! But I warn you, once you've tried, you'll be trapped forever!
There are many versions of Worms but the
ones I've presented here are the ones for the PC and one for GameBoy.

The FMV's
Worms has a number of full motion videos which are shown randomly when
a new game is started. They really are cool so I've fixed some
screenshots here for you who haven't seen them yet.
Demo
A very early version demo it is, with only two levels, one icy and one
in hell. But it do have the true spirit of Worms, it was from this demo I started to love Worms! Download this if you haven't played Worms, and don't forget to read
the Readme.1st file for info!
The infinite-good-weapons cheat
For you cowards who want to play it boring or you who just want to
check out some cool weapons, i've got a little cheat for you: When
you're playing the game, just type "baabaa" (without "'s) and a message "Cheatmode
activated" should appear. Get the weapon menu up and you'll see that you've
got infinite bananabombs, sheeps and minguns! But beware, all teams get
access to the weapons...
The Mega-Uzi-Bazooka cheat
The is so cool and powerful, I almost don't want to reveal it for you.
But I do it anyway cause I'm such a nice little worm :) It works something like
this: 1. bring up the weapons menu by right clicking on the mouse 2.
Put the mouse pointer over the uzi 3. When left clicking on the uzi,
hold down space and F1. If everything works the worm selected should
start firing bazooka missiles instead of uzi shots! Be sure to be on
distance from your target, and don't use this at home! Works both in Worms and
Worms: Reinforcements.
The Wormsong
One thing before we start, I must admit that I read the wormsong lyrics
at KilJaeden's site before I wrote this. I decided to keep this one
similiar. Forgive me KilJaeden! Anyway this is the words for the
wormsong included in the Worms Original for the PC. I also guess this
is copyrighted to TEAM17. I've heard from several sources that Boggy B is
supposed to be Bjorn Lynne(Music, SFX of Worms) and Spadge is Marty Brown(Producer of Worms) in this
song, and these two actually use those names as nicknames. But what are those guys
working at Team 17 anyway? Mad? Crazy? Nooo..!

Scrambling up a hill and hiding behind a tree,

Boggy called to Spadge, but Spadge didn't hear,
he never knew what hit him, as he flew into the air.
It was all to much for Boggy, as he watched his best friend die.
Charging down the hill he had to have revenge,
What had Spadge done to come to such an end?
Reaching the bottom of the hill, Boggy suddenly heard a click
he realised to is terror there was a mine under his tail!

Hitting several cliffs and landing in a tree,

As the fuse ran out there was a mighty *BANG*!, and everywhere were bits of worm.
With their leader blown to kingdom come, the enemy, they turned and ran!
Boggy bungeed from the tree and landed safely on the ground.
As he watched the enemy squirm away, the cry went up: "WE'VE WON THE WAR!"
