After the success of W:A, Team 17 was obviously out of good ideas and instead of trying with something original or in any way qualitative they decided to milk some more money out of the Worms 2 graphics and game engine. A number of years after the release of the original it was getting pretty old, but hey you need not worry fellow wormer! Team 17 thinks about you! To Team 17 you are the mostest importantest in the entire worldplace! That's why besides four new backgrounds in the menu, there is also - get ready for it - new missions! And a silly Wormpot mode (nope, sorry not that kind of pot) which does nothing but making the game unbelievably unbalanced and impossible to play. And it's not that you could already edit these things and more in W:A using Fiddler. Oh and there's always the new training modes. I think you all can see where this is leading...

Why, Team 17, WHY? You could've done Worms 3D. That would've been great. Instead we get this. Worms: Armageddon with four new (ugly) bitmap pictures so that the menus look childish. Thank you, that's exactly what I've always wanted. I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking "Oh darn if only Team 17 would make me give them my money to get W:A again WITH UGLY CHILDISH MENU BACKGROUNDS! Then everything would be perfect."... Not. "But Servadac", you say; "What's wrong with you? There are new missions in there! Missions! And not to mention the new training modes!".

Ah yeah those are pretty cool, actually I kind of like the new missions. Oh waity here a second, I don't. They have nothing to do with being a good and strategic Worms player. The missions has turned all this I used to love so dearly into a god damn arcade game! Maybe they're nice for killing some time, but the difficulty level rises too fast. It quickly gets very hard, if you're one of those morons who could never figure out how to beat that Eiffel tower mission in W:A, this is not your bag I can assure you. The missions in W:A were better but they even those were certainly not the strongest part of that game (that was the online gaming) and once you've finished them I mean that's it.

The "training" modes, what should I say. In W:A there was a reason for you to play the trainings because it kind of trained you in using the weapons etc. In this game it's all kinds of stupid things I can't even remember because I haven't played the game in a long game. Anyways, they're silly and their only purpose seems to be so that you can COMPARE your TIMES with other persons over the Intarweb! You reading me? You can actually compare your times with other human beings who are miles away from you over the Internet! This is all so great!

Unless you don't already own W:A, I'd advise you to stay away from Worms World Party. It's not a party. Far from it. It has taken me all this time to bring you a page about this game because I had to get well from the initial chock from playing this abomination of a computer game. Nope, Team 17, get it together. Bring us W3D, and DON'T let us down with that one.

Overall rating out of five worms:

That's one worm doing away with itself for you who don't get it. Pretty awful, in other words.

Patch
Yeah of course within a week or so after the game's release they spewed out a patch that is required to play over the Internet (I think). I can't be bothered getting you a direct link, but it's somewhere at the official website below. Good luck.
Official WWP Website

Screenshots
What do you need screenshots for? The game looks exactly like in W:A, except the new terrains and mission maps of course. Wee...

Demo
Oh yeah I think there's a demo. It's over at the official site somewhere. Which means you don't need to buy the game to see the new four background images.

No FMVs?
No there are no FMVs. They gave up that in W:A you know.

No cheats?
No there are no cheats... It's just the old ones from W:A. Yes, the game sucks.
