Bayern's so-called
second division team are on the up, as they defeated SC Pfullendorf in the regional league
South. Udo Bassemir's team pulled off a 1-0 win over second-placed team Pfullendorf.
Despite tricky pitch conditions, the 500 spectators in the Grünwalder Straße stadium
were treated to a technically sound and high tempo match. Ten minutes into the match,
Bayern had their first chance, thanks to Bierofka whose close-range effort unfortunately
bounced off the crossbar to safety. On the opposing side, Slawig had bad luck when he hit
the crossbar on thirty minutes, while Sinkala was in the right place at the right time to
fire home the winner. Pfullendorfer keeper Hermanutz just about saved Jarolim's lob,
barely touching it with his fingertips, only for Sinkala to put the ball firmly in the
back of the net. After the interval, Bayern looked to finish off their opponents and
forced them back into their own half. Würll had two very good chances to make the score
2-0, but the forward wasted both of them, leaving the time on tenterhooks right up to the
final whistle. In some nerve-racking dying moments, the South Baden team really turned it
on once more, laying siege to Bayern's goal from all sides. Even though Pfullendorf had
Bayern under remorseless pressure, keeper Küfner managed to save everything they could
throw at him. Best Bayern players: Bierofka, Jarolim
