Majorca
is one of four Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean - the Queen of Balearic. Majorca is the biggest Island in that group and the capital is Palma de Majorca. Palma is full of life and a cosmopolitan city. The International airport is Son San Juan and during the hight of the season it's open throughout the twenty-four hours.

Majorca - in Mediterranean
Once Majorca,
always Majorca...

Island

Spring brings the shade of the almond tree blossoms to complete the magical color palette of the island together with the turquoise transparency of its waters, the yellow sand beaches, green vegetation and bright sun provide the island with a magnificent light.

Majorca - the largest of the Baleric Islands

Majorca, its name coming from "MAJOR", is the largest of the Balearic Islands. This "Mediterranean Pearl", in spite of its apparent common features with the other islands in the archipelago, keeps, nonetheless, a special image thanks to its own peculiarities.

The busiest area is, of course, that of the seashore (a coast of 460 Kms.) and more than half of its inhabitants (600 000) are centred in the capital, Palma. But, fortunately, the changes propelled by the growing tourist trade, the main source of income for majorcans, have not put an end two traditional virtues of the island: its quietness and the kindness of its people that will be immediately noticed by any visitor.

Golf Fantasia in Palma Nova

Golf Fantasia in Palma Nova
It is a green paradise set in the heart of Palma Nova.
With three 18 hole putting courses for you to play
amongst sparkling waterfalls, lakes and streams and mysterious caves,
all located in a tropical garden. Very nice place to play miniature golf.

Dolphins at Marineland

Marineland

This zoo has become most famous for its fantastic dolphin show. But there is much more:
Sea Lion and parrot shows, sharks and tropical fish, aquarium, penguins, flamingoes, monkeys, aviary and reptile house. Ploynesian garden and childrens playground.

Valldemosa

History is carefully kept at Majorca. Frederic Chopin lived there during the winter of 1838--1839, in one of the monk cells, together with George Sand, in Valldemosa. The quietness of the Carthusian atmosphere allowed the musician to compose most of his Preludes.
In the cells where they stayed are Chopin´s piano, papers, the monastery library and bibliography work that belonged to George Sands.
Many other artists and intellectuals have spent some time in the Carthusian, mainly thanks to the legal process called "desamortizactión", in 1835, by which the State recovered old unexploited Church possessions.

The tram to Soller

On track for Soller
Red Lightning, the train between "Plaza España" in Palma city
and Soller, has been in operation since 1912 and offers
a pleasant trip through mountainous scenery.
The 30 kilometre journey takes about an hour.

Son Amar in Bunyola

Its a very big show at Son Amar. I promise you that you will have an unforgettable evening with good food and see a big show with flamenco, magic and lots of surprise.

Inca, Alcudia, Pollenca and Formentor

Another nice route goes from Palma to Inca, Alcudia, Pollenca and Formentor. In Inca, it is essential to visit the market places where you can find all kinds of local products, in addition to the well known shoes and leather articles. The National Park of L`Albufera, a rich reservation for different species of flora and fauna, is located just before coming to Alcudia. This last town keeps remains from most of the ancient cultures that have settled on the island. In front of the seaport in Pollenca, another archeological site, you will find Formentor, one of the natural marvels of Majorca and a wonderful view.

Hams Caves

The Hams Caves was discovered by Pedro Caldentey on March 2nd 1905, the Hams Caves are famous for their peculiar arborescent formations and for the marvellous subterranean lake, where extraordinary concert/spectacles take place. The splendid electric lighting, a magical combination of light and colour is the work of Lorenzo Caldentey, son of the discoverer of the caves.

The possibilities Island - Majorca. The Island with huge variations
in the way to live, the nature and different ways to experience
the holidaydreams.

The beauty and quietness of Majorca have, even nowadays, drawn the attention of famous people that have chosen the island as a favorite retreat - as I do, and I still have lots of places to explore..:-)

Hasta la vista
Majorca y España!
