My name is Marie Källgren and I live 20 kilometers north of Örebro, Sweden. I always had dogs when I grew up, but also had an interest in cats.

After many years as a dogowner, I decided to buy a purebred cat. This was in 1987 and the cat I bought was Mimosas Mr Mister, a sealpoint male of "petmodel". Joining a catclub seemed like a good idea, so the same year I became a member of Nerikes Kattklubb, which today is the biggest catclub in Sweden. They arranged championships and of course I showed my cat there. Everything seemed so fun and I met so many nice people. This is how my career in cats got started.

After the first clubchampionship, I bought another cat from the same breeder, Mimosas Tootsie, a bluepoint female which supposedly was a better showcat. She got her certificates, became an International Champion and also managed to achieve a couple of BIV's during her career. I mated her with a sealpoint male, Mimosas Mio Min Mio, which was a very nice looking cat for that time, and Tootsie had 5 wonderful kittens of which I kept 2. Unfortunately the heart speaks before the brain too often when I have kittens, so in many cases there's a cute kittie ending up staying. Not always though.

As time passed by, more cats came into the cattery. In 1991 I went to Lasse Mortensen, Alomi, in Denmark, to look at a stud. It was love at first sight, when my eyes caught Alomis Yourworstnightmare! He was a creampointed little furball of a beauty. The waiting to get my boy home was unbearable, at this point quarantine was mandatory for 4 months for cats coming from Denmark. Yummie, as he was called, have given me many very nice kittens. Among others is Mariposa's El Molino, he became BIV in SVERAK 1993 with very high points.

Since I've always loved lynxpoints very much, I looked for a number of years for a lynxpointed female or male to buy. This was easier said than done. Years went by and I decided to breed with a solid tabby and keep an offspring from the litter, to finally be able to get lynxpoints myself in the future. The result came in 1997, when Mariposa's Qurant was born...there was my new stud and a tabby to that! It was a total bliss, when he gave me Mariposa's Sandy River, Per f 21 33 (sealtortielynxpoint), in his first litter with Joli Nic Tic Tac Toe.

Sandy has won a lot during all the shows she has attended, a number of NOM, BIS och BOX. National Best lynxpoint 2000-2001. She achieved her Europan Champion title 16 months old. In 2002 Sandy had her first litter, which have developed into great satisfactory and joy.

Mariposa's is a cattery where the cats are free to roam the house and live with us as familymembers. The kittens grow up with us and the other cats and become very social and confident in themselves because of this. When they move to their new homes, they are fully vaccinated and have a health-certificate from the vet's office.
